The Scaling Up Nutrition Business Network in Mozambique (SBNMOZ), in partnership with the Confederation of Business Associations of Mozambique (CTA) and the Institute for Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME) launches the 3rd edition of the NutriDeal, an initiative aimed at strengthening food system enterprises in Mozambique.

The NutriDeal consists of 3 components, namely:

  • Bootcamp capacity building for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) (18.10.2022 to 11.11.2022): intensive virtual training for MSMEs in matters of business development, financial management, marketing strategy, pitch preparation and nutrition;
  • SUN Pitch Competition (14.11.2022 to 18.11.2022): pitch competition for innovative business ideas promoting nutrition;
  • Deal Room (23.11.2022): initiative aimed at investors, academia and food system businesses in Mozambique.

The 3rd Edition of the NutriDeal seeks innovative solutions that contribute to increase the supply of safe and nutritious food in the communities most vulnerable to chronic malnutrition, taking into account the purchasing power and the desire of these communities; the NutriDeal expects to reach around 60 MSMEs from the food systems (production, processing, distribution and commercialization sectors), in the provinces of Manica, Sofala, Zambézia and Cabo Delgado, with emphasis on women and youth-led businesses.

The grand prize winner of the Pitch competition will win a trip and participation in SANKALP 2023, in Nairobi, Quenia including registration in the local competition and access to the dealroom.

MSMEs from these provinces are invited to submit their applications to participate in the Bootcamp. At the end of the training process, the participants will be invited to present their business concept in a pitch competition session before a panel that will select the 3 best approaches at the level of each province. In turn, these will have the opportunity to compete in the final stage to be held during the Deal Room of investors, in Maputo, during the 4th Annual Conference of the SBNMOZ.

The deadline for submition of proposals is October 17, 2022.
