What advocacy interventions at the political-regulatory level can be adopted to overcome the current legal and operational challenges in the poultry and fisheries sectors in Mozambique?
On August 24th, a workshop was held in Maputo, with the support of SBNMOZ, to present to the private sector the results of the "Legal analysis study and advocacy roadmap for the production of animal sourced food in Mozambique (eggs, chickens, fish)", carried out by GAIN.
"This workshop demonstrated, once again, that the challenges facing the poultry sector at different levels are converging... going forward, we have to be persistent and we have to use the methodology of one bird at a time, which means that we have to take one element at a time and solve it, and then take another element and go on solving it.... would be a question of prioritization and sequence in solving problems," Zeiss Lacerda, Executive Secretary of the Mozambican Poultry Industry Association, during the workshop.
This workshop provided a platform where the ongoing Public-Private Dialogue can be accelerated in identifying and implementing solutions for the growth and development of food systems through nutrition in Mozambique.
